Car Advice from Tommy...
Hi. We get asked this question a lot. There are many different oils out there claiming to be the best and we use the one uses the tagline " It's Just Good Oil." Well it is the truth.
Quaker State realized a few years ago that there are so many different oils out there that make crazy claims and have different levels of protection. They wanted to streamline choosing an oil that will provide the best protection for your vehicle. They produce 4 different levels of oil to cut down on the confusion of picking an oil.
The 4 different levels are as follows:
- Advanced Durability - 10% Synthetic 90% Regular oil
- Enhanced Durability - 50% Synthetic and 50% Regular blend
- Ultimate Durability - 100% Full Synthetic
- High Mileage - Formulated to keep seals soft and pliable to reduce leaks and oil consumption
Most American and Japanese cars made before 2012 will be ok with using either Advanced or Enhanced engine oils. After 2012 a lot of manufactures engines became much more advanced and require the use of Ultimate Durability to keep engines running longer. The use of lesser quality oils in these engines can lead to premature wear. Quaker State did realize this would happen and the did not want people to ruin the engine in their cars so the changed the formulation in their entry level oil to keep failure from happening.
You may ask if the base Advanced Durability oil is so good, Why would I use the better oils? The reason is that Advanced Durability does not meet the specifications to make the engine last to its full potential or contain the additives needed to provide lubrication for the manufactures suggested drain interval. Advanced Durability is a great 5000 mile oil but does not meet the demands for longer oil change intervals. That's where Ultimate Durability comes in
