What causes the lane departure to stop working correctly? A few things can. The Number 1 reason is the vehicle had a windshield replaced and the glass company did not calibrate the camera afterward. They do not understand how precise these cameras are. If the camera is mounted 1mm off from the original position the camera could be aimed at on coming traffic or the side of the road. Another reason for it not working correctly is you have worn suspension components. Worn, sagging suspension can cause the camera to become pointed downward at a shorter distance than the original calibration. This can cause issues. A third reason is alignment issues. Changing what is referred to as the thrust angle can change which direction the camera is pointed. A vehicles lane departure camera sholud be calibrated after an alignment. Most modern alignment machines will tell you a calibration needs to be performed when doing an alignment because changes to the thrust angle will cause issues with the system.
